Prayer
O Lord, You are King of kings, Lord of lords. Indeed, all the earth should tremble before You.
In this season of Christmas, we celebrate Your coming to earth in a way that caused little trembling. You came in weakness, in humility, in vulnerability. Not the sort of person before whom one is apt to quake.
Yet when we think of what we “see” at Christmas, when we consider the mystery of the Incarnation, when we reflect upon the fact that God has become human in a tiny baby, then we tremble, not so much with fear, as with awe and wonder. Though your “throne” is just a manger, nevertheless we bow before You, Lord Jesus, our King.
Postscript
“Humble King”
by Brenton Brown
You are the God of the broken
The friend of the weak
You wash the feet of the weary
Embrace the ones in need
I want to be like You Jesus
To have this heart in me
You are the God of the humble
You are the humble King
Verse 1
Oh kneel me down again
Here at Your feet
Show me how much You love
Humility
Oh Spirit be the star
That leads me to
The humble heart of love
I see in You.
